Joseph Golier Obituary

Joseph A. Golier, 88, died on February 28, 2024 from congestive heart failure. Originally from Natrona Heights, Penn., he moved to Cleveland, Ohio in the mid-1950s in search of work. He met his future wife, Ann, at a dance in 1969 and they married the next year at St. Bartholomew's in Middleburg Heights. Daughters Mary and Linda soon followed. Joe was an active member of St. Mary's parish in Berea for decades, giving generously of his time as an usher, altar server, and bingo volunteer. After retirement from his job on the production line at Dairy Pak in Olmsted Falls, where he worked for more than thirty years, he enjoyed attending Mass multiple times weekly. As his family grew, he delighted in the addition of each new grandchild and, in 2023, the arrival of his first two great-grandchildren. Family members who welcomed him into heaven include his parents, Joseph V. and Sadie, his brother Frank, and sister Margaret "Marge." Family saying goodbye to him on Earth include his wife of 53 years, Ann (nee Gunderman), his daughter Mary (Kate Goe), and Linda Alvarado (Frank), his grandchildren Stefan, Jordan, Nathan, Natalie, and Corey Golier, and great-grandchildren Milo and Raelynn Golier.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, March 5 from 10:30 - 11:30 am in the chapel of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Berea at 250 Kraft St. A funeral Mass will be held beginning at 11:30 am, followed by interment of his ashes at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate in his name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or a charity of your choice.
