Betty R. (Hadsell) Joyce

Betty Rose Joyce (nee Hadsell), of Berea, Ohio passed away March 4, 2018 at the age of 88.  She and her twin brother Bob were born to Howard and Alta (Strawbridge) Hadsell in Lima, Ohio. Betty graduated from Lima Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and went on to work as a surgical nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. It was there she met the love of her life, Blaine and soon began a wonderful marriage that would last for over 62 years. Her passion was family and friends. Betty enthusiastically supported all of her sons’ endeavors, whether as a Cub Scout den mother or when wildly cheering at swim or track meets. She created a warm and inviting home for family and friends.  Betty enjoyed hosting bridge clubs and was an avid rose gardener. She especially enjoyed annual trips to Myrtle Beach with Blaine, her brother and his wife.  She was very active in The United Methodist Church of Berea and worked part time as an operating room nurse at Southwest General Hospital until retirement.  She was a loving grandmother who never missed the opportunity to spend time with and make cookies for her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Blaine; sons David (Vickie), Tom (Laurie) and Jeff (Colleen); grandchildren Katherine, Michael, Kelly, Abby, Steven and Christina Joyce and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Harry (Virginia) and Robert (Donna) Hadsell; her sisters Mary (Roger) Welch, Ginger (Robert) Wheater, and Jean (William) Schroer. Family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at BAKER-OSINSKI-KENSINGER FUNERAL HOME, 206 FRONT STREET, BEREA, OHIO. 44017. Funeral service will be the following day at 10:00 a.m. at The United Methodist Church of Berea, 170 Seminary St. Berea, Ohio, 44017. Burial at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Rd, North Olmsted, OH 44070.
