Dolores Hamilton Obituary

Dolores Rapp Hamilton (nee Kowalski), also affectionately known as Dolly and Busia, departed to join her loved ones on Thursday, April 12, 2018.  She is survived by her loving daughters, Kerry (nee Stokes) (Kevin) Mantel, and Cindy (nee Stokes) (Dennis) Osinski, siblings, Rosalind (Lindy) Holas, William L. Kowalski, and JoAnne Anderson. Granddaughters, Sara Osinski and Rachel (Ben) Pettit, and great-grandchildren, Sadie, Mykenzie, Lukas, Elena, Miley, Emma. Nephews and Nieces Michael, Vincent, William, Debra, Catherine, Matthew, Dorothy, Carl, Jean, Jim, Rose.  Preceding her in death were her parents, Dorothy and William Kowalski, her husbands, Robert Hamilton, Eugene Rapp and Darrell Stokes, and beloved granddaughter, Dena Monroe.  She is also survived by her best friends Martha Garbers and Mary Fry, and many other friends.

Dolly was very active in many organizations for decades.  She learned to sing under organist, Ms. Sophie, at St. Hedwig’s Elementary School’s Polish and English Choir. Up to her death, Dolly was an active member of the St. Adalbert and St. Hedwig’s Church’s Polish Choir.  She was a member of the Toledo Chorale Society and Swiss Singers.    She attended St. Hedwig’s elementary school and graduated from Woodward High School. She was also a member of the Bavarian Sports Club, danced as a member of the D’Holzhacker Buam Schuhplattler Gruppe, and served as Treasurer and Trustee for over 20 years.  Dolly volunteered at the German American Festival for over 30 years.  She was a member of the Eleanor Kahle Senior Center and the Altar Rosary Society at St. Adalbert’s Church. Prior to her retirement Dolly worked at the Roman Gardens, the Ramada Inn, Rose Bodett boating supply company, and Tanks Meats.

During her life, Dolly loved life, laughing, going to Frankenmuth and the Outer Banks, reading different books, cross stitching and her shoes (for which she had a funeral when one had to be discarded).  She was loved by many. A memorial mass of remembrance and celebration will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018, at 9:30 am at St. Adalbert and St. Hedwig’s Church at 3233 Lagrange Street, Toledo, Ohio 43608.
