Rita Marie Barr (nee Plute), 85, passed away February 3, 2018 in Aurora, Ohio.Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Chapel, 250 Kraft Street, Berea, Ohio on Monday February 12, 2018 from 10-11 a.m., with mass immediately following at St. Mary’s Church at 11 a.m. The American Legion Hall #91, 91 American Legion Parkway, Berea, Ohio will be hosting a Celebration of Life Luncheon afterwards. Internment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Mantua, Ohio at 3:30 p.m. Rita was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed “antiquing” for most of her life. She was actively involved with American Legion Post 91 for many years and made over a thousand lap quilts for veterans. Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Barr; her parents, Rose and Joseph Plute; and brother Gilbert Plute. Rita is survived by her brother, Richard Plute of Arizona; two daughters, Theresa (David) McLaughlin of Arizona, and Carla (Daniel) Sullivan of New York;three grandchildren Sara (Jason) Geyer, Thomas (Devan) Sullivan, and Sean Sullivan; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah Geyer and Henry Geyer. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Western Reserve Hospice, the nursing staff of Ajuha Medical Center, and Anna Maria of Aurora for their support and care these past few months.
