Dorothy graduated from Olmsted Falls High School in 1946. As a high schooler, Dorothy was a roller skate enthusiast when the original roller rink was in a building at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds (before the Berea Roll and Bowl was built). After high school, Dorothy worked in Berea at the Boston Store as well as Berea Community Hospital. It was while working at the Boston Store, she met Tom and the two were married in 1947.

Tom and Dorothy raised their family on Race St. in Berea. Dorothy was a great mother, making her home and family atop priority. Dorothy and Tom also enjoyed a lake home at Apple Valley in Howard, Ohio from 1978 to 1998.

As a retired couple, Dorothy and Tom were well known in Berea's Active Senior Network and the Berea Historical Society.
