Obituary

Wade L. Spafford, Jr., at the age of 95, was ushered into the presence of God on June 27, 2026

Born in Berea, Ohio, he was a resident of Strongsville for 70 years before moving to Brunswick in 2024.  He married Virginia Beal-Armagost in February 1951 and shortly after was inducted into the United States Air Force, which he considered a privilege.  He was honorably discharged in September, 1955 and took interim work as a truck driver until he purchased the Spudnut Shop in Berea, where he and his wife grew the operation to include daily truck catering to local businesses.  With a life-long interest in the food industry, Wade sold the donut shop and became a consultant to various restaurants, continuing that line of work until his retirement in 2011 at the age of 80.

Wade enjoyed reading, cooking, walking his dogs and flying airplanes.

He is preceded in death by his parents (Wade and Mary Spafford), his brother (James), his wife (Virginia), grandson (Nathaniel Avis) and son-in-law (David Eyssen).  He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Eyssen, grandchildren Valarie Eyssen, David (Nicolette) Eyssen, great-grandchildren, Hannah, Ryleigh, Kambrin, Briar, Eastyn and Enza, as well as nieces and nephews Joel (Melody) Spafford, Jill Farkas, Mary Beal, Cathy Birnbrich and extended family.

He was a man of faith and a friend and encourager to many.

His funeral service will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 3480 Laurel Road, Brunswick, Ohio on Tuesday, July 7th with visitation at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. service.  Pastor Richard Powers will be officiating.

Interment will follow at Strongsville Cemetery, but his soul has gone on to Glory.
