Anjean Kauffman Poyer made the journey into the arms of her Savior on January 7, 2025. Born in Urbana, OH, on April 21, 1930, to Marion A. Kauffman and Frances Brinser Kauffman. She graduated Urbana High School in 1948, the valedictorian of her class. She graduated The Ohio State University in 1952 with a major in education.
Anjean taught English, speech, and theatre at Miamisburg High School for four years. She met her future husband and life companion, Donald Poyer, in 1952, on a blind date arranged by her college roommate. They married on June 16, 1956, and had 68 wonderful years together.
They lived in Berea, OH, for forty-three years and she was active in the congregation of St Paul Lutheran Church of Berea. She taught a Bible study class for over thirty years and was on the board and treasurer of a Meals-on-Wheels program.
She and Don moved to Tallmadge, OH in 2007 to be nearer their daughter and joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Kent. She was an active member and taught a Bible study for several years. Their final move was to Danbury Assisted Living in Hudson, OH.
Don & Anjean enjoyed traveling around Ohio and surrounding states, but their greatest attraction was New England, especially Maine, which they visited almost every summer.
She is survived by her husband and children: Michael (Sandi) Poyer and Beth (David) Wright; and a brother, John (Luann) Kauffman. Also surviving are grandchildren Stephen and Hannah Poyer, Jamie (Robert) Patterson, Abby and Nicole Wright and great grandchildren, Kelli, Bobby, and Daniel Patterson.
Memorial service will be held Friday, April 11 at 11:00, Trinity Lutheran Church, 600 S. Water St. Kent, OH 44240.
