Basil Howard Reynolds III, 61, of Columbia Station, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, June 6, 2025, after a lengthy illness that he bravely battled most of his adult life. He was eternally grateful for the blessing of an extended life bestowed upon him in 2005 by an unknown heart donor that allowed him a second chance to watch his children grow and hold his beautiful grandchildren tight.
He lived most of his life in Columbia Station, graduating from Columbia High School in 1982. He then served in the U.S. Marine Corps and later graduated from Lorain County Community College and Baldwin-Wallace College.
Basil spent most of his life working in law enforcement. Starting with the LaGrange Police Department, Olmsted Falls P.D. and retiring early from Elyria P.D. In addition, he worked as an investigator and in security at various institutions. He had many interests but his main focus were his children, grandchildren…and auctions. He was a life member of the Marine Corps League Beirut 241 Detachment, Disabled American Veterans Walter Klekota Chapter 49, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 30, Acme #1440 and Eaton #1964 Granges.
He is survived by his children; Daniel (Erik), son Brandon, daughter Samantha (Adam), daughter Bailey (Josh) and son Jonah. His precious granddaughters Natalie, Quinn and Rory and grandson Andrew. His beloved significant other Terry and her children Chelsea and Joe. As well as his stepmother Cindy.
He was preceded in death by his father, B. Howard Reynolds, Jr., mother Marilyn Kiley (Ives), and stepfather John Kiley. Grandparents Basil Sr. and Jennie Reynolds, Leon and Zelda Ives. And the love of his life, his dog Pepper.
The family will receive friends at the Baker, Kensinger Funeral Home, 206 Front Street Berea, Ohio 44017 on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 between the hours of 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. There will be a service at Baker on Thursday June 12, 2025 at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Columbia Cemetery on West River Road.
Contributions in his memory are encouraged to organ transplant research or the Columbia Methodist or Columbia Baptist churches.
