Calvin Henderson, Jr. age 71, died peacefully June 21, 2022, after spending the last years of his life battling dementia. Those who knew him really loved him.
He was born May 30, 1951, to the late Calvin and Gladys Henderson. He graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he was the starting point guard for the basketball team and shortstop for the baseball team. He really enjoyed and excelled in sports including basketball, baseball, football, tennis, and golf. He also relished spending time with family and friends.
Calvin spent his professional career primarily as an administrator of the section 8 and moderate rehabilitation program at the Kansas City Housing Authority in Missouri. There the main objective was to provide federal assistance to qualified low-income families for public housing. He also held a real estate broker license which allowed him to transact the sales of commercial and residential properties.
He is survived by his sister, Lisa Henderson; children Kacy Lindell Henderson (Fanny) and Kyle Donnell Henderson (Melissa); and seven grandchildren. He also leaves several cousins and friends to cherish his memory.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing an honor gift in memorial of Calvin to Hospice of the Western Reserve at https://hospicewr.org/Ways-to-Give or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at https://alzfdn.org/support-us/donate/.
