CHARLES V. CABLE, 91 passed away July 18th at the Renaissance Health Center in Olmsted Township. He attended High School in Lakewood, Ohio class of 1949. He is survived by his wife Carol of 65 years and son Keith, wife Sally, grandchildren Sarah, and Charles, and daughter Claudia Scharlow, husband Troy, grandchildren Matthew, Braden, Andrew and great grandchildren Jack and Piper Scharlow. Attended Kenyon College for 2 years prior to joining the Navy. Held rank of Lieutenant and served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Midway as a carrier pilot and later a flight instructor. Completed college at the University of Colorado where he met his wife. He had a love of flying and built a wooden sailplane and flew it for several years until the children grew up. Later he fully restored a J3 Piper Cub. He was a member of the Quiet Birdmen. Then came the sailing era and the Sandusky Sailing and Yacht clubs. Every 5 years he found a bigger boat. He loved to race and captained the Port Huron to Mackinac race 20 times and the Chicago to Mackinac race 6 times. Winning their Class 6 times. He sold his company Kamin Cable Corporation and retired in 1992. He will be laid to rest at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Renaissance Health Center 26376 John Road, Olmsted Township on Friday, August 25 at 2:00 p.m.
