Cynthia Good Obituary

Cynthia (Cindy) Good was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 6, 1950. She passed away at home on September 3, 2024, after a long courageous battle with a failing heart. Cindy was the third child born to the late Josephine (nee Juliano,) and Cyril Good, and was raised by her mother and late stepfather Ernie Judd. She was a 1967 graduate of Olmsted Falls High School. Afterward she briefly attended Bowling Green College to pursue a degree in business.

Instead of taking that route, Cindy invested in her love of music, which she credited to her mentor and inspiration: her late Aunt Julie (Pistone). Like her Aunt Julie, she had tremendous vocal and stage talents, although Cindy was more like Bette Midler and Liza Minelli than Ella or Billie. Cindy took those gifts and dreams to the hotel lounges of South Florida to expand them. There she built a solid career entertaining so many of us, creating such groups as Cindy Good and Al White, Fifth Avenue, and recording a CD in Nashville.

Cindy chose to move back to Ohio in 1990, changing careers to become a paralegal professional. Mostly she returned to be closer to her mother, her west side roots, and her Pistone family. Their lifetime professional restaurants (which included The Inner Lobby Coffee Shoppe, which she once managed, and The Lincoln Inn, where she sang,) inspired Cindy to open her own wine store, VinoMatique in Berea, -- a dream of hers. There she transformed customers into good friends who remained in her life.

Eventually Cindy’s beautiful, generous, and fun-loving heart gave out after a 17-year battle. She chose to leave her failing body behind on her own terms, leaving the hospital’s futile interventions to go home. Cindy was cared for lovingly in her last earthly season by her partner and caregiver Cathy Battle, who brightened her final years.

Cindy is survived by Cathy, her brother Bill Good, his children and their families: Gail, Ron, Shari, Greg and Bob; her sister Susan Sabol, and her husband John, son John Jr. and daughter Amy; her “other sisters and brother,” her Pistone cousins, and many friends. She also leaves behind her beloved cats Annie and Mocha, (who desperately need new homes.)

The family will have a private celebration of life for Cindy. To honor Cindy’s inimitable spirit: sing a song, raise a glass of good wine, befriend a smaller creature than yourself, whistle a happy tune, go to the beach and the mountains, and live life to the fullest.
