With all Honor, Respect, Love, and sadness, The Ogden Family announces the death of Cynthia Lorainne Quivers Ogden on July 10th, two-thousand twenty-two upon age 99. Cynthia is predeceased by her parents, Charles Quivers, her mother, Grace Ann Starks Quivers, and eldest and youngest daughters, Stephanie Ann Ogden and Cynthia Eileen Ogden Cobb, respectively. Four brothers, Charles, Maurice, Richard, and James Quivers, predeceased Cynthia. Surviving immediate family members include brother Kenneth Quivers, Grace Ann Ogden Jackson, James Stephen Ogden, Jr., Charles Preston Quivers Ogden, III, and David Karl Ogden. Surviving extended family members include nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Matriarch Cynthia will always be remembered as a religious woman in thought, deed, and reputation, a fighter until the end. She never gave up. When asked whether she liked something, her patented response was, "I like everything," or, "I like it all." Her attitude towards life is a metaphor for her approach to life challenges in a humble, patient, forgiving, loving way. She had no enemies. Neighborhood children greeted her by announcing, "here comes that nice old lady" during her morning walking exercises. Of course, Cynthia responded that her name was Cynthia. Upon the premature death of her husband, she overcame the challenge of raising six juvenile children. Cynthia elicited the support of her mother, Grace Quivers, her eldest daughter Stephanie Ogden, and a
cadre of her five younger brothers. Cynthia moved the family from the inner city of Cleveland to Berea, Ohio, where she built a home. Cynthia ensured her six children received a suburban education. She sent them all to the college of their choice and supported them years after graduating from college and graduate school. Four children accomplished post-graduate degrees. Cynthia simultaneously invited one of her daughters and her three juvenile children to live with her. That stay ended in ten years. Cynthia helped the daughter purchase a home of her own where she could raise her own children. Cynthia supported her mother, Grace, until her death. Cynthia was an outstanding student and athlete. She attended Bryn Mawr College, Bryn Mar, PA. Bryn Mawr College is one of the Seven Sisters, one of seven highly selective liberal arts colleges in the Northeastern United States that are historically women's colleges. She attended evening classes while working at the college each day. James met her after asking one of her peers to introduce him. Memorial Services will be held at Unity In Christ Church (UIC), located at 4301 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17202. Reverend Lois A. Waters will perform memorial Services at 3:00pm on Saturday, August 20th. Cynthia's remains will be interred at her grave-site in Lebanon Cemetery, 948 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, PA
