David Charles Himmel, 70, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on December 21, 2023, in Strongsville, Ohio.
Born on January 6, 1953, to Robert and Charlotte Himmel (nee Trautman). David was known and will be fondly remembered for his moments of cheerful playfulness and sense of humor. He enjoyed fishing, and tinkering around in his garage, working on various projects and DIYs. He was always there to lend a hand to his family and friends and was the go-to "Mr. Fix-It".
David was a beloved husband of 49 years to Rosemary (nee Dempsey) and a devoted father to Jessica (Chris) and Bryan (Demira). He was a cherished brother to William (Carol), Daniel (Susan), Michael (Camille), and Matthew (Amy). He was a second brother to his closest and dearest friend of more than 50 years William “Billy” Traine (Sandie). He leaves behind his two granddaughters, Amelia and Madeleine, who lovingly referred to him as “Papa”. David was a cherished Uncle to many, both in blood and spirit. He was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest son, Jason, his beloved sister Kathy Lewis, and her husband, Robert “Bob” Lewis.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 6-8 P.M. at the Baker Osinski Kensinger Funeral Home, located at 206 Front St., Berea, OH. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Adalbert Church, 66 Adalbert St., Berea, OH 44017, with interment immediately following at Woodvale Cemetery in Middleburg Heights.
As David had been bravely fighting cancer himself for the past two years, it was his final wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his honor.
May David's memory be a blessing, and may his loved ones find comfort in the cherished moments they shared with him.
