Diane Evelyn (O'Donnell) McLaughlin

On December 31st, 2022, Diane Evelyn McLaughlin (nee O’Donnell), beloved wife of Bruce Lauron McLaughlin, passed away, after 83 years of sharing life with her family and friends. Over the years, she made all of her homes warm and welcoming; in Buffalo, in Hamburg, in Syracuse, and in Berea.

Devoted to her children, Mark and Lynn, Diane contributed her time to the PTA, to the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, to the Campfire Girls, and she volunteered at the school library on Pleasant Avenue in Hamburg.

Fond of baking, she looked forward to each Christmas, when a bevvy of holiday cookies came from her busy kitchen. Much to Mark and Lynn’s delight, chocolate chip cookies could be counted on appearing at other times of the year.

An avid world traveler, both Diane and Bruce took family trips to Canada, Mexico, England, and various states in the USA stretching from New England to California and down to Florida. When her children were grown, she continued her travels with Bruce. She fondly recounted a chance meeting with comedian John Cleese, while traveling to France with Bruce.

The marriage of Mark to Susan Diller, and Lynn to Glenn Murray were further cause for celebration, as was the birth of her grandchildren: Sean, Dan, and Brian for Mark and Susan; and Abigail and Andrew for Lynn and Glenn.

She enjoyed a passion for crossword puzzles that never abandoned her to the end of her days.  Diane is survived by her husband, Bruce, and her children and grandchildren.

 A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 4 at 3:00 p.m. at the St Thomas Episcopal Church, 50 East Bagley Rd. Berea, Ohio.
