Douglas Rambert Obituary

Douglas B. Rambert, 69, of Berea, Ohio passed away on Oct. 4th, following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Never losing his faith along the way and now he is at peace with the Lord. His final days were spent surrounded by his family and friends.

Doug was the son of Alfred & Jean Rambert (deceased). He grew up in Cleveland and was a proud January 1970 graduate of John Marshall High School. Shortly thereafter, Doug began his long and storied career with Local 373. He went on to marry the love of his life, Cindy (nee Haschka) in August of 1972. They had recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary with a surprise vow renewal ceremony.

Doug was most proud of their children: Tiffany Squires (Ken), Amy Murray (Brian), David Rambert (Meghan), and Gavin Vondruska. He truly enjoyed spending time with each of them. He also reveled in being a grandfather to Molly, Lainey, Brody, Liam, Stone, and Nolan.

Doug was also extremely proud of his career as a cabinet maker/carpenter. He liked to play cornhole, hang out with friends at the Elks, and obsess over his fantasy football roster! He was very well known for his goofy sense of humor. Doug was a longtime member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and served on various committees and groups.

Doug is survived by his wife, Cindy, his children, grandchildren, brother, William Rambert (Jackie) of North Royalton, OH, his sister Allison Maynard of Lakewood, OH and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family is having a celebration of life in his honor at the Berea Elks Lodge 626 North Rocky River Dr. Berea, Ohio on Saturday, October 16 from 12pm to 4pm. Casual attire, including properly worn masks – regardless of vaccination status (unless eating or drinking) has been requested.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4260 N. Rocky River Dr. Cleveland, Ohio, 44135, or Southwest Hospice, 18659 Drake Rd., Strongsville, Ohio, 44136.
