Edna Dozier Lott was born March 3, 1932, in Berea Ohio. She was the youngest of 12 children born to the late Cleveland Dozier and late Sallie Sowell Dozier. Edna was born and raised in Berea, which is the only town that she has ever lived in. She graduated in 1950 and stayed in touch with many of her classmates throughout the years. Edna married the love of her life Joddie Lott (deceased) on September 16, in 1950, where they enjoyed 45 years of marriage until he departed this life. Out of their union Edna gave birth to seven children.
Edna birthed seven children out of her union with her husband Joddie and four preceded her in death: Kenneth (deceased 1951), Clifford (deceased 1984), Denise (deceased 2002) spouse Antonio, Joddie (deceased 2012) spouse Karlita, and Sandra (deceased 2020).
Edna departed this life, age 90, at the Southwest General Hospice on November 8th, 2022, she was preceded in death by her eleven siblings, Irene, Albert Earl (Bow), Hasker (Cooda), Gertrude, Martha, Clara, Cleo, James Earl, Catherine, Mary, and Lillian.
Those left to celebrate her life and treasure her memories include her son Martin Lott (Eydie), daughter Linda, son and daughter-in-law Antonio Betts and Karlita Lott. Edna also leaves to cherish her sister-in-law Gloria Gully of East St. Louis, brother-in-law LA Rencher of East St. Louis and sister-in-law Louise Lott of East St. Louis. Edna also leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, a great great grandchild, nieces, nephews’ family, and friends. And many other sons and daughters who adopted her as her “Ma Edna”.
Funeral Service, Tuesday, November 15 at 12:00 Noon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 200 Emerson Ave, Berea, Ohio, 44017, where friends may call Tuesday at the Church from 10:30-12noon (time of service).
