Edward Burnett

Edward Burnett, 77, the son of the late Ruffin Burnett and Elizabeth Hughes Burnett was born in Jeffersonville, Georgia on September 18th, 1946.  He was the youngest of 15.

Edward accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Higgsville Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, Georgia.  He also attended Higgsville Public Schools.

In 1965, Edward decided to permanently move to Cleveland, Ohio.  In 1967, he met Sandra Joan Sullivan and they were married on August 31, 1968. In 1969, he took welding classes at West Tech in Cleveland, Ohio.  In 1972, he started working at Ford Motor Company in the foundry.  He also took computer classes at Ford during this time.  He retired in 2007 after 35 years of service.

During his spare time, Edward liked to work on computers, ride his 1971 Harley Davidson Sportster, bowl, and babysit his granddaughter. He also liked to travel and went to places like Australia, New Zealand, Bali and Dubai.

Edward departed this life on Father's Day, Sunday, June 16th, 2024.  He was preceded in death by all of his siblings who were: brothers- Ruffin Burnett Jr., Raford Burnett, Charles Burnett, Joseph Burnett, Willie Lee Burnett, sisters- Kate Jackson, Rosie Rouse, Gladys Weems, Lorene Blash, and Georgiana Hogges. Four other children from this family preceded Edward in death also.  He was also preceded in death by his only grandchild, Alia Marie Bailey.

Edward is survived by Sandra, his wife of 55 years, daughters Nancy (Juan) and Jennifer.  Brother-in-law, Jeffrey Sullivan, sister-in-law, Amanda Burnett, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends may call on Saturday, June 29th from 9:00-10:00 and the funeral immediately following at 10:00.  Services will be held at Second Calvary Baptist Church, 12017 Emery Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44135. Repass immediately following funeral at Crowne Plaza, 7230 Engle Rd, Middleburg Heights, OH 44130.  Burial on Monday, July 1st at Woodvale Cemetary, 7535 Engle Rd, Middleburg Heights, OH 44130.
