Elizabeth (“Betty”) Wollaver Miller, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, with family by her side. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 12, 1935, to Harold and Lillian Wollaver. Betty received her teaching degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1957 and married Dr. John W. Miller, Jr., who she had dated since the eighth grade, in 1958. She was a lifelong resident of Berea until she and John moved to The Renaissance Retirement Campus in Olmsted Township in 2015.
Betty truly loved her family and friends and had many of them. She was extremely kind to everyone she met and always wanted to help others. She did this in so many ways: as a cherished family member, as a public school teacher and private tutor for children with learning disabilities, as a GED tutor, as a Sunday school teacher, and as a volunteer on several church committees at United Methodist Church of Berea. Betty’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with those she loved, especially when it involved a lot of talking together.
Preceded in death by her husband, she is survived by her children, Susan Ziegelhofer (James) of Coral Springs, Florida, and John D. Miller (Beth) of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Stephanie Brown (Cummings, Georgia), Anne Miller (Chicago), Madeline Miller (Dallas), and Daniel Ziegelhofer (Perrysburg, Ohio); and great-grandchildren Rebecca Rains and Addyson Brown (Cummings, Georgia), and James Ziegelhofer and Jacob Ziegelhofer (Perrysburg, Ohio).
Betty’s children, daughter-in-law and son-in law would like to thank Jackie Mey, her daily aide from The Visiting Angels, and the staff of the assisted living and health care centers at The Renaissance for the excellent care they gave their mother. You are very much appreciated.
