Elizabeth (Bep) Pierce passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024.
Bep leaves behind her daughter Susan Goodman (Glenn) and many grandchildren including: Justin Carson (Rachel), Paul Goodman (Heidi), Joseph Carson, Elizabeth Kannel (Steve), Jillian Carson, Anna Goodman and Jesse Mambuca. She also leaves behind great grandchildren, London Carson, Emma Goodman, Conner Kannel and Charlotte Carson.
Elizabeth was also preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Donald Johnson and her children Donald and Betsy. Her husband of 61 years Bill passed on two weeks after Bep died.
Bep lived a long and good life. She saw many hardships, including the sudden and unexpected death of her first husband when her youngest child was an infant, as well as the sudden and unexpected passing of two of her three children in young adulthood. Bep was the only daughter of a pastor and even throughout all of these hardships her faith was strong. In her last days she spent her time singing hymns. She was a faithful member of the Berea United Methodist Church.
Even as she lost some of her memories, she loved her people. Early in her life she spent time as a Kindergarten teacher and her love for children stuck with her throughout her life. In her final days her greatest joy was visits from her great grandchildren and her dog Charlie.
While she spent her first few years in Michigan, Bep and Bill built their family in Cleveland, Ohio and spent summers at their cottage at Aylen Lake, Ontario.
A Service to celebrate the lives of both Bill and Bep will be held on Tuesday, November 19 at 11 a.m. the United Methodist Church of Berea. The family invites all to stay for a light lunch following the service.
