Ellen Cheyney, beloved wife of Allen of Berea, Ohio for 70 years. Dear mother of Terry A. Cheyney (Diane) of Lapeer, Michigan; Thomas W. Cheyney (Dawn) of Clermont Florida and Cindi Myers of Berea, Ohio. Dear Grandmother of Christine Myers of Parma, Ohio, Judd Cheyney (Sarah) of Gotha, Florida; Kenny Myers (Carolyn) of Painsville, Ohio and Anne Marie Whiteman of Berea, Ohio. Ellen was a great grandmother of Nevaeh and Anthony Gunther; Kenneth and Carson Myers, Madeline and Vanessa Cheyney and Ashlyn Brancheau. She was a great great grandmother of Archer Brancheau. She was the aunt to many. Ellen was preceded in death by five sisters; Dorothy (John) Makuch, Alice (Jim) Rademaker; Charlotte (Al/Beansie) Kowalski, Betty Stewart and Janice (Jim) Hubbard.
During WWII, Ellen did her part as secretary at the Bomber Plant (now the IX Center), where tanks were built for the war effort. She then married her high school sweetheart Al, upon his return from World War II, and in turn started their family.
Ellen is retired from the Berea City School District, and she truly loved her time at C.A. Thomas Elementary where she enriched so many young lives.
Upon retirement, Ellen enjoyed maintaining a beautiful home for her family and dear friends to enjoy, and dedicated endless hours to enrich her children and grandchildren's lives.. She is remembered with special love.
To those wonderful people at Shurmer Place Assisted Living, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Ellen was so happy there and the efforts by all of you added so much to her life.
Visitation will be held at the Baker, Kensinger Funeral Home on Friday April 10 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
