Ethel Klink Obituary

Ethel Elaine Klink, known as "Elaine ", passed away into eternity at the age of 93 on Saturday, |uly 25, 2020, comfortably in her sleep. She was a resident of Sprenger Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake, Ohio. Elaine was born on May 31,1927 to her parents, Ralph Otis Brainard and Eunice Ganyard Brainard in Cleveland, Ohio. Elaine was the oldest of 5 children, and she was named after her Aunt Ethel, who passed away at the age of 42. She spent her early childhood years with the family on a general farm near Lodi, Ohio. Due to low farm prices and an economic depression, her parents moved the family to Strongsville, Ohio. Elaine graduated from Strongsville High School in 1944. She attended Bowling Green State University and graduated with an elementary education degree. She taught third grade in the Parma Ohio Schools. Elaine was married to Henry Klink Jr. at the Strongsville Methodist Church in 1951. They had three sons and lived in Berea, Ohio. She did substitute teaching while the boys were in school, and she sold Avon Products as a local director when her sons were grown. Her home was open to the neighborhood women, and she always had time for a cup of coffee with her friends. Elaine was always concerned for the well being of her family and kept in communication as time allowed. She was well known for hosting family get togethers with brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews for birthdays and holidays. She was a good cook and well known for her homemade apple pie. The grandchildren always had access to her "cookie drawer". Elaine was a loving loyal caregiver - first to her mother, after her father passed away, and then to her middle son, Kevin, who suffered from the effects of juvenile diabetes. She loved flower gardening especially perennials, and her backyard was a nice retreat for all. She fed the wild birds and seemed to know them as individuals. She expressed a great appreciation for music, especially classical and church hymns. She is survived by her brothers, Frank [Jean) and Dale D.D.S. (Cheryl JD); her sister in laws, Audrey(Ralph] and Joyce  (Robert J); her children, Timothy (Cindy) and Keith (Tracy); her grandchildren, Nathan (Julia), Valerie, Dane (Randi), Kaylee (Zach), Hannah (Samuel ) Kalissa (Matthew), Logan (fiance Danielle), McKenna, and Austin; her great grandchildren, Grace, Brant, Sophie, Lily, Kaitlyn, Lucy, Spencer, Rhea, Violet, Wyatt, and Kyla.; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Otis Brainard and Eunice Ganyard; her brothers, Ralph PhD and Robert (and his first wife Twila); and her son, Kevin. Memorials can be made to the |uvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  The family wishes to thank the caregivers at the Sprenger Main Street Care Center and Crossroads Hospice. There will be a memorial service planned early this fall. Call Keith and Trary at 440-525-0073 or Tim and Cindy at 937-725-9255 for more details
