Gloria Dorner Obituary

Gloria ‘Lorie’ J Dorner departed our earthly realm to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday March 12, 2021 peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the age of 86.  She is the high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 65 years to William ‘Bill’ Dorner; loving mother of William S. Dorner (Mori), Barbara Dorner Cousins (Dan), and John P. Dorner (Dr. Holly Perzy), dear grandmother of Daniel P. Cousins (Rachel), Caitlyn Cousins and Christine Cousins, devoted sister of Jim Colvin (Beth) and Bob Colvin (Susie), caring Aunt/Great Aunt and cherished friend to many. She is preceded in death by her parents, H. William Colvin and Dorothy, Florence Porter Colvin, sister, Jacquelyn Lee Colvin and brother, William Franklin Colvin and will be laid to rest with her departed family in Mentor Cemetery in Mentor Ohio. Though Lorie lived in Louisiana, Texas and Louisiana (again), her family roots and home was Berea, Ohio.  She was a proud graduate of Berea High and attended Ohio University where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.  Lorie was a true people person.  Having worked at Ford Motor Co and later traveling with Welcome Wagon, one would know her by her contagious smile and sparkling blue eyes.  Lorie loved her Lord passionately and would openly share her faith in Christ with others.  Though her faith foundation started at her family’s home church, Berea Baptist; wherever she lived, she found a strong church home and family.  She was always thinking about and giving to others, especially children in need.  Lorie also loved to travel, cruising was her favorite.  She was an avid sports fan, always rooting on her favorite teams: Browns, Indians, Cavaliers, LSU Tigers, Buckeyes, Bobcats, and Falcons…  To her family and friends, she was known as being very kind, nurturing and inspirational.  A few of her favorite words of wisdom are: “Trust in the Lord” Always smile”, “You have to be able to laugh”, “This too shall pass” and “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”. She will be sorely missed by many but her heart and spirit that touched so many will continue to live on through them. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday March 27, 2021 at Berea Baptist Church 250 West St Berea, Ohio 44017. Visitation will begin at 9:30am followed by a celebration of life service at 10:30am with luncheon following.  Final resting place and burial will be in Mentor Cemetery in Mentor Ohio at 2pm.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her honor to Berea Baptist Church or Ohio Guidestone (fka Berea Children’s Home) Due to COVID-19, social distancing is encouraged and masks are required to attend services.  Please sign the E.J.
