Grace L. Cox

Grace (96), of Middleburg Hts., Ohio, passed away peacefully in her sleep December 25th 2024, early Christmas Morning.

Grace was born February 26, 1928 in Cleveland Ohio to parents John and Dorothy Tompkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Lois Meyers, husband Gordon A. Cox and her 2 sons Gary and Wayne Cox.

She is survived by her brother, Everett Tompkins (98), daughter Nancy Cox (Rich Gehlbach), grandchildren Kelly (Tony) Carr, Kristin and Kyle Cox, Scott (Tealla), Brian (Rachel) and Eric (Karie) Gehlbach, Nic, Ian and Lindsay Cox and 8 Great Grand Children.

Grace worked for over 30 years at Eva’s IGA in Middleburg Hts. She was an excellent Bridge player and continued playing at the Strongsville Rec. Center until she was 94. She was also an avid reader and a long-time member of the United Church of Christ in Middleburg Hts. She was fiercely independent, living at home and driving until after 93 yrs old.

Grace loved spending time with her family and extended Canadian family at her family summer home, “the cottage” in Combermere Ontario. She and her husband Gordon spent their summers at “the cottage” after retirement, tinkering around, playing bridge and socializing with all the Canadian relatives.

Grace, Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma will be missed.
