Howard John Houser passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of 36y to the late Catherine (Micki) Houser (nee Bunce.) He is survived by his children Eric (Peggy), Steven, and Annemarie (Michael) Polito; and his brother Gerald of Tampa, Florida. He was preceded in death by two brothers Donald and Harold (Rita.) Howard was grandfather to Grant (Bethany), Evan (Cassidy), Joey, and Teddy Houser; Bryce, Drew, Charlie, Mickey and Claire Polito. Howard was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania to John and Clarice (nee Walker) Houser. He grew up in Lakeland, Florida and was a 45-year resident of Strongsville, Ohio. Howard was a proud Navy veteran. He met Micki while attending the Navy’s nuclear power school in New London, Connecticut and served on nuclear powered submarines from 1960-1964. Through his work in sales, primarily for woodworking tool companies, he developed a great love of woodworking and travel - visiting all 50 states. Howard had a great affinity for the western US and spent many hours in retirement watching “western” movies and television shows. In his travels he came in contact with a charity that supported Native American school children – St. Labre’s Indian School in Ashland, Montana. He contributed to this school regularly, and the last check he ever wrote was to St. Labre’s. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Labre Indian school. https://www.stlabre.org/ Calling hours for Howard will be held Saturday, March 1 from 2-4pm at Baker Kensinger Funeral Home at 206 Front Street, Berea, OH 44017. There will be a private internment.
