Janet Carol O’Toole (née Racove)
September 9, 1939 – August 18, 2025
Janet C. O’Toole (née Racove), age 85, of Berea, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025. Born on September 9, 1939, in Berea, Ohio, Janet was the daughter of the late John Racove and Frances (Cicak) Racove. She was a lifelong resident of Berea and a graduate of Berea High School, Class of 1957.
Janet was the beloved wife of the late Timothy O’Toole. She is survived by her sister, Judy (Racove) Ostrosky, and was an aunt to Beverly (Grospitch) Anderholm, Jeffrey Grospitch, Susan (Ostrosky) Sanderson, and John Ostrosky. Family, friends, and neighbors will remember Janet for her kindness, independence, and her love for animals—especially her cats.
She was a volunteer with the Berea Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), where she gave many hours to helping animals in need. Janet was also a retiree of the Ohio Turnpike Commission, where she spent many years of service before retiring.
A faithful member of St. Mary’s Church in Berea, Janet lived her life with quiet devotion. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and could always be counted on to cheer for her team.
Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janet’s memory to the Berea Animal Rescue Foundation.
