Jeanne Michele (Matolyak) Kay died suddenly on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at the age of 57.
She was born in Lakewood, Ohio on April 27, 1964 to Robert and Doris Jean Matolyak. Jeanne
attended St. Mary’s School and Berea High School where she met many of her dearest friends.
After high school, Jeanne attended Miami University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Early
Childhood Education. Jeanne was a seasoned waitress and loved meeting people especially at
the Pufferbelly where she honed her skills. Jeanne and Todd Kay were married in 1992 and
began their family in St. Louis, Missouri. After a short period of time, they returned home and
continued to raise their family in Olmsted Falls, Ohio. After her divorce, Jeanne began working
for American Airlines. Anyone who knew her, knew she loved to fly - especially south to any
sunny beach! There were many things that Jeanne was known for: Diet Coke - and only the
fountain kind! Dove soap - one bar daily - and only the white kind! and the sun- which she
worshipped daily. If you ever needed to know the UV index - she could give you a report! Her
sunbathing began as soon as winter turned to spring and lasted as long as the fall would allow.
Jeanne will be best remembered for her gregarious personality. She will leave a legacy of love
not only for her family, but also for her dear friends.
Jeanne was the beloved mother of Nicholas W. Kay and Kristen N. Kay, dear daughter of
Robert and the late Doris Jean Matolyak, sister of David Matolyak (Anne) and aunt of Courtney
and Lindsay Matolyak. She is also survived by her Aunt Judie (Fred) Garbinksi; cousins Gary
(Christy) Garbinski and Jodi(Rick) Liptak and their children, Connor and Tyler Liptak; Uncle Bill
Matolyak of San Jose, CA; Aunt Virginia (Lou) Taylor of Bridgeton, NJ; Uncle John (deceased)
