JOHN STEWART CHAPMAN, JR., 78, of Berea, passed away at home on Sunday, June 21, 2020. He was born May 27, 1942, in West Orange, New Jersey, to John Sr. and Aldys (nee Squire). He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Kathy (nee Hine). He is also survived by daughter, Peyton (Aubrey Russell); son, John III (Ana); daughter, Kate; grandchildren, Halle, Julia, Jack, Saier, Everett, and Carter; sisters Aldys Davis and Peyton Horne, and numerous nieces and nephews. John was a long time resident of Berea where he lived from 1970-2019. He was a Rotarian, Kiwanian, founding member of the Berea City Club and won the Berea Grindstone Award, along with his wife, Kathy, in 2007 for extraordinary service to the city. John enjoyed a long career as a food broker, and retired from the business he created and built, in 2000. He loved the island of Nantucket, boating, the ocean, the Indians and Browns, and traveling with family and friends. He was the consummate host, and enjoyed entertaining his many friends. John was a Marine Corps Veteran, and was proud to serve his country. A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
