JOYCE HOPE McGEE, (nee Lake) of Broadview Heights, Ohio, passed peacefully with her son at her side after a yearlong fight with ALS, just days after her 72nd birthday. She will forever be remembered for her positivity in life and throughout medical challenges, surviving pancreatic cancer in 2019. Born July 8, 1949 in Berea, Ohio, Joyce is a 1967 graduate of Berea High School and spent her life in Northeast Ohio. She took pride in her 34 year career at American Greetings and the friends she made there, retiring in 2018. A member of the United Methodist Church of Berea since 1965, she enjoyed participating in many events in the life of the church. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Paul and Mabel Lake. She is survived by her son Daniel (Gina), grandsons Henry and George, her brother Wayne (Judy), as well as cherished extended family members and friends. She found particular joy in visiting and laughing with her grandsons at every stage of their young lives, especially in recent weeks. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 24 at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church of Berea, 170 Seminary Street; livestream at facebook.com/umcberea/live.
