KENNETH H. ROADS, age 85, born to the late Hardin and Mildred Roads, brother of the late Doris Dick. Ken is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joanne; children Catherine Shafer (Greg), Carrie Wilson (Patrick), and Christopher (Kasie); grandchildren Bradley Shafer (Jessica), Daniel Shafer, Peter Wilson, Amelia Wilson, Jackson Roads, and Koen Roads; and great-grandchild Luca Shafer. Ken graduated from Cleveland Heights High School and received his bachelor’s degree at Michigan State University before beginning his 30-year career with General Motors. Upon retirement, Ken and Joanne travelled often with friends, including a close-knit group from their early career in Anderson, IN. Ken kept busy with a wide range of interests – audio, cars, computers, household repair, and photography. He will be best remembered for his devotion to family through his steady presence that included recording children’s concerts, photographing performances and attending school and sporting events. Ken took great pride and joy in being a grandfather, stopping everything else when the opportunity came to spend time with grandchildren. The family will hold services at the United Methodist Church of Berea on Saturday, March 27 at 11 am. For those unable to attend, the service live-stream can be found at www.facebook.com/umcberea/live. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the United Methodist Church of Berea or the Alzheimer’s Association, Cleveland Chapter.
