Margaret King Obituary

Margaret “Peggy” King, age 79, passed away peacefully at home on June 30th, 2025. She is survived by her brothers Charles “Denny” Brady, and Kenneth “Kenny” Brady, her daughter Shannon, her stepdaughters Karin and Linda, and grandchildren Adam, Lily and Phoebe. A service will be held at the Baker-Kensinger Funeral Home, 206 Front St. in Berea on Saturday July 12 at 3:30 p.m. where friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service, followed by a reception nearby with details to be shared on the day of the service.

Peggy was born and raised in Warren, OH. As a youngster, she had a constant companion in a dog named Tinker and had the good fortune to have obtained a horse named ‘Red’ that she rode and loved for many years. She is a graduate of Harding High School, where she made many friends she kept in touch with and shared life with for over 60 years.

In her late teens, she bought a ’66 GTO that she loved to race. She used to beat everyone, even Corvette drivers. She was proud of that. After high-school, it was Peggy’s aim to become a flight-attendant, which she did with United Airlines. She traveled the world, from Africa to Iceland, and lived in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, and Miami.
After marrying and having her daughter Shannon, Peggy returned to Warren and settled into her first home and began working with United at the Youngstown Airport. During this time, she was able to bond more with family and travel with her mother. She made lifelong friends with her neighbors and co-workers and threw lots of get togethers in the back yard. After raising Shannon and seeing her off to college, she met her husband Jerry through work, and they married in 1993.

While married to Jerry, she flipped a few homes and even designed her own in Valdez, NC that looked out at Grandfather Mountain. She did this simply by checking out a book from the library on how to render blueprints. As life progressed, she joined many card groups –she loved to play pinochle—and became a member of the Red Hats.

Peggy remained social throughout her whole life. She loved her friends and family dearly and always made herself available to help those in need as a good citizen, friend and volunteer . She attended bible study at Jerry’s Lutheran church and never joined, but she considered herself "independently faithful", and a  true Christian. Peggy basically existed on a spiritual plane, imparting love and light to everyone and everything while realizing her dreams and living a happy and satisfied life.

The world has lost an irreplaceable, loving soul. She was the best daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend  anyone could wish for. She will be sadly missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
