Marilyn Emma Verbsky(née Goldbach)

Married to the late Thomas for 65 years, Mother of Pamela Strick (John), Patricia Prinkey(Ronald), Penny Overstreet(Robert), Grandmother of William Clark, Marilyn Jessica Clark(Eric Mackey), Anna Pellegrin(Kyle), Emma Strick(Jesse Eicher), and Kathryn Prinkey, Great Grandmother of Zephyr Mackey. Daughter of the late Henry and Hilda Goldbach(née Leppelmeier).

Born May 7, 1934 and raised in Lyndhurst, Ohio, graduated Brush High School in 1952. She attended Baldwin Wallace College. She married Tom Verbsky on April 23, 1955 on her parents’ and grandparents’ anniversaries, a tradition now extending five generations. They bought a home in Parma Heights, Ohio and built a home in Strongsville, Ohio in 1964.

Marilyn was a life long Girl Scout active as both a young girl and eventually a Leader. She was active in Pleasant Hills United Methodist Church and the Strongsville United Methodist Church. She collected Fenton Art Glass, Boyd Glass and Westmoreland Glass as well as many others. She was an excellent seamstress and prolific knitter. She was a dog lover and they all loved her back. She was a 25+ year Strongsville City Schools bus driver, driving #32. It was more than just a job, she loved her “kids,”

She spent the last four years at Generations Senior Living of Strongsville making many new friends.

Marilyn never met a stranger and always saw the good in everyone. Her sense of humor and laugh were legend. She will be missed by many.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Marilyn and Tom,  November 26, 2023, 1-4pm at Rocky River Nature Center, 24000 Valley Pkwy, North Olmsted, OH. Casual dress encouraged. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Richfield Heritage Preserve, Richfield heritage preserve.com.
