Mary Collins Obituary

In Loving Memory of Mary Collins (Reeves)

1937 – 2025

Mary Collins (Reeves), age 87, passed away peacefully after a lifetime devoted to her family, her faith, and her community. Her unwavering commitment to service and compassion left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

A proud and active member of Wayman A.M.E., Quinn A.M.E., and St. John A.M.E. churches, Mary found joy and purpose in her roles within the Women’s Missionary Society, the church choir, and Sunday School. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through decades of service and fellowship.

Mary’s dedication extended far beyond the church walls. She was a passionate advocate for education, civil rights, and civic engagement, contributing her time and energy to the local NAACP, PTA, the Jefferson County Democratic Party, the National Council of Negro Women, and senior groups in both Steubenville and Columbus. An avid sports fan, her support for the Buckeyes and the Steelers was legendary.  Her leadership and warmth uplifted countless lives.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, William Collins, whose partnership she cherished deeply. Mary is survived by her devoted daughters Robin (Vince) and Patricia, and her adored grandsons Collin (Emma) and Zachary, who carry forward her legacy of love and service. She is also survived by her sister Charlotte Rispress and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mary’s life was a testament to grace, strength, and generosity. She will be remembered with love and gratitude by her family, friends, and the many communities she touched.

If friends desire contributions can be made to St. John AME Church Women’s Missionary Society.
