Patricia Ann Baker, 61, died August 7th at her home in Berea. Born March 15, 1963 in Cleveland, Ohio, Patty was a partner in crime and in life with Guy Baker, her husband of 23 years. Beloved daughter of Neil (Shirley) Akins, Sr. Preceded in death by mother Bette Ralston and Dick Ralston, and sister Debbie Himes. Loving sister of Neil (Diane) Akins, Jr., Sharon Deaton, Bruce (Jean) Akins and Brad (Cheri) Ralston. Favorite aunt of Josh, Mary (Jeffrey), Jenna (Will), Margaret, Angie, Alicia, Amanda, Nathan (Camille), Elise (Bea) and Brendan. She was a “great” great aunt to Bella, Gabby, Miles, Kevanni, Jace, Chance, Saige and many more. Devoted pet mama to Ozzy, Ruby, Dakota, Uno and Stash.
Patty will be remembered for her witty sense of humor and her generous loving nature - she never wanted to see anyone do without, especially at Christmas. She was a mentor to many and a second mom to her nieces and nephews. She loved to listen and share honest (sometimes brutally honest) feedback. Patty was always true to herself and enjoyed life -- she had a sense of adventure and was willing to try anything once! She loved fishing and four-wheeling, traveling, bingo, gambling, music, and gardening. She loved her work as a tax preparer and many of her clients became treasured friends.
Family will receive visitors at 1pm on August 24 at the United Methodist Church of Berea, 170 Seminary Street. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm. Friends are invited to continue the celebration of her life with a light meal and ice cream bar.
One of Patty’s favorite things was to spoil the children in her life with wonderful gifts. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests new unwrapped toys and monetary donations, which will be gifted to Pathway Caring for Children foster agency.
