RICHARD J GEDEON, age 97, passed away peacefully at the Residential Hospice of Southwest General in Strongsville on March 9, 2020. He was the beloved husband of the late Anne A. (nee Danko); loving father of Beverly Gromelski (Stan); Shirley Gerecke (Bernie); Grant and Lee Gedeon. He was proud grandpa of Chris and Brian Hyde (Kandis); Kimberly, Todd (Sarah), Matthew (Marie), Ryan (Rachel) Gerecke; Carmen and Brett Gedeon. Loving great-grandpa to Molly, Annabel, Beatrice and Margery Gerecke; Lily and Ares Gedeon. A native Clevelander, Richard served in the USAF for 20 years both as a fighter-bomber pilot during World War II flying P-47 Thunderbolts, P-51 Mustangs, B-25 Bombers, among others, in 70 patrol/reconnaissance/search missions over Germany, England, France, Belgium and Iceland. Among his medals were: the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 7 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Belgium Fourragere. He was promoted to Captain in 1945; Major in 1950; and as Lieutenant Colonel served as an instructor in the reserves. Upon retirement, he was plant manager at Heil Process and Equipment (later Xerxes Fiberglass, Inc.) for 26 years. No Visitation.
