Shari Godinsky Obituary

Shari Godinsky (née Dangelo), 64, passed away on February 9, 2026, after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Shari was born in 1961 and raised in Berea, Ohio, by her loving parents, Frank and Joan Dangelo, and shared a close childhood with her brother, Gary Dangelo. She was a proud graduate of Berea High School, Class of 1979, where she was a member of the marching band.

Shari was married for 33 years to her devoted husband, Ronald Godinsky. Together, they raised four children in Strongsville: Dr. Ryan Godinsky (Dr. Lisa Godinsky), Christopher Godinsky (Eunjin Godinsky), Brandon Godinsky (Jessica Ehrengruber), and Allyson Godinsky (Connor Cormier).

Shari’s greatest joy in life was her family, especially time spent together. Her love of family gatherings began with the large Christmas celebrations her mother hosted—so many presents they could barely fit under the tree. Those celebrations included her beloved niece, Katie Chapman and her family, her nephew, Stephen Slocum, and her sister-in-law, Melinda Dangelo, all of whom she loved dearly. Shari carried that same joy forward, cherishing holidays and birthdays and making every gathering feel special. For each family member’s birthday, she took great pride in cooking their favorite meal as a way of showing her love.

She especially treasured her time with her daughter Allyson, attending dance competitions and proudly watching her perform and sing. Shari also loved the moments when the entire family would come together to cheer on Brandon at his sporting events.

Shari enjoyed a successful career at Central Reserve Life Insurance Company in Strongsville, where she was deeply respected for her dedication, professionalism, and strong work ethic. Later in life, she transitioned into administrative roles in education, continuing to serve others with the same commitment and care. Most recently, she was a valued member of the Brooklyn City School District, where she formed many meaningful friendships. Shari was known for her wonderful sense of humor and her selfless spirit. She consistently put others before herself and found genuine joy in doing kind and thoughtful things for those around her.

She enjoyed traveling and the many trips she shared with her husband throughout the years. Shari was a devoted grandmother to her six grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as “Noni”: Colin, Thea, Liam, Reese, Rory, and Grayson. She also deeply loved her dogs and cats throughout her life.

Shari was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Joan Dangelo. She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Godinsky; her children, Dr. Ryan Godinsky (Lisa), Christopher Godinsky (Eunjin), Brandon Godinsky (Jessica), and Allyson Godinsky (Connor); her brother, Gary Dangelo (Melinda); and her six beloved grandchildren.

Shari’s family is devastated by her loss but finds comfort in believing she is now in a better place, reunited with the parents she loved so dearly. Life will never be the same without her.

Private Family Burial will be held at a later date.
