Thomas P. Surrarrer, aged 73, passed into eternal rest on Nov. 5, 2024. Tom was father of Christina Surrarrer-Frusteri (Vince) and Caroline Surrarrer-Huff (Jonathan), grandfather to Giada, Vincent, Adeline and Nathalie, brother to Carolyn Johnson (Paul), and uncle to Katie Sullivan (Matt) and Anne Gabel (Matt). He was preceded in death by beloved wife Sharon (née Faster), and parents Thomas and Caroline.
A lifelong resident of Berea, Tom graduated from Berea High School in 1969 before earning a BA in Biology at Wittenburg University and a MA in Education at Baldwin-Wallace College. Tom went on to teach science, primarily Chemistry, first at St. Augustine Academy, then for 30 years at Saint Ignatius High School. He had a reputation among students for his in-class demonstrations, some of which were quite explosive, and the menagerie of animals living in his classroom. Outside of school, Tom could be found in his garden, tending to his Japanese maples and a bounty of produce.
Friends may call from 3:00 – 4:30p.m. on Sunday Nov. 10 at Baker, Osinski, Kensinger Funeral Home, 206 Front St. in Berea. A service will follow at 4:30 p.m.
