Thomas James Verbsky 12/19/1924 - 12/10/2020, husband of 65 years to Marilyn, father of Pamela Strick (John), Patricia Prinkey (Ronald), Penny Overstreet (Robert), grandfather of William Clark, Marilyn Jessica CLark (Eric Mackey), Anna Pellegrin (Kyle), Emma Strick (fiancee Jesse Eicher) and Kathryn Prinkey. Son of the late Roger and Mabel (nee Thomas )Verbsky, brother of the late Gertrude Gant(Clifford). Uncle, Great Uncle and Great Great Uncle to many.
Tom was born in the family farmhouse on Highland Road in Richmond Heights Ohio on December 19, 1924 to Roger and Mabel Verbsky. His older sister Gertrude was delighted.
He enjoyed a childhood on the family farm and developed a close friendship with his cousins the late Wilbur Eggert and the late Jim Thomas. The three were handsome young men and enjoyed years of adventures together. They and their families were close throughout their lives.
Tom enlisted in the Army Aircorp in 1942, shortly after turning 18. He worked in airplane maintenance at training bases helping to keep aircraft flying to help America win the war. He also was assigned to guard a visiting pilot's plane, who turned out to be Colonel Paul Tibbets.
He returned home to his parents' home in South Euclid. Eventually he headed west where he worked in a New Mexico greenhouse as well as a host of other jobs. Returning home to visit he went on a blind date with his cousin Wilbur, Wilbur's girlfriend Grace and Grace's best friend Marilyn. Tom and Marilyn were married April 23, 1955. They lived in Lyndhurst, Parma Heights and in 1964 built a home in Strongsville. Their family of five eventually expanded to include 5 grandchildren and their first great grandchild expected in May.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
