Tracy L. Jordan, born on November 18, 1952, in Panola, Alabama, passed away on April 27, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, individuality, humor, and deep love for family.
As a young man, Tracy migrated from Panola, Alabama, to Cleveland, Ohio, with his mother, Kate Malone, and his five siblings. He attended and graduated from East High School in Cleveland, where he quickly gained a reputation as an exceptional athlete while also working to help support his family.
Shortly after high school, Tracy began a long career in the steel industry, working for many years at Republic Steel and LTV Steel. Through company mergers, acquisitions, and changing times, Tracy served in critical labor and oversight roles. He became a strong leader and a trusted voice, advocating for the health, safety, development, and fair treatment of his fellow workers.
Tracy’s athletic ability was admired by many. He was a talented softball player and pitcher, a master at racquetball, and someone whose presence on the field drew cheers and attention. He brought joy in simple and unforgettable ways, from giving special birthday gifts, to riding horses in Panola, to buying a motorcycle before fully mastering the art of riding a regular bike. Tracy was known for his love of good food and his own special barbecue sauce, a flavorful recipe he never gave away.
Throughout his life, Tracy often chose paths that were uniquely his own from his taste in music and dress to his outspoken opinions and independent spirit. In a touching family memory, he once set aside his familiar bandana and wore a tuxedo to walk his sister down the aisle, showing once again the depth of his love and devotion.
Tracy’s greatest love and point of pride was his family. Even through life’s challenges, he never lost sight of what mattered most: family, compassion, and how we treat one another. Up until his final moments, he continued to encourage, advocate for, and cheer on others.
Tracy is survived by his wife, Deloris Jordan; his son, Michael; his daughter, Jackie; 3 grandchildren; his siblings, Jessie Jardan (Christine), Nebrenda Malone Sharp (David), Terry Malone (Susan), Barbara Malone Cook (James), and Claudia Malone; and his dear aunt, Charlotte Hinton. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends. Tracy was preceded in death by his loving mother, Kate Malone.
The greatest gift Tracy leaves behind is his love for family and the reminder that each of us has permission to be fully and unapologetically ourselves.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday May 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the Baker Kensinger Funeral Home where friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
