Wanda A. (Reiter) Glenn

Wanda A. Glenn, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and neighbor, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 62 years, George A. Glenn, who passed away in 2014.

Born in 1928 in Rudnik, Poland, Wanda was named after the legendary Princess Wanda. Growing up during the difficult years surrounding World War II, she experienced firsthand the hardships and uncertainty that shaped her character. Even in the face of adversity, she demonstrated the resilience, compassion, and determination that would define her throughout her life.

As a young woman, Wanda worked in an orphanage, caring for children in need. Her nurturing spirit, deep compassion, and strong sense of responsibility were evident from an early age and remained at the heart of who she was throughout her life.

Wanda later immigrated to the United States, arriving by ship in New York City. Sponsored by a family in Mount Vernon, New York, she embraced her new home with courage and determination. She quickly learned English and began building a new life. It was there that she met George Glenn, a young Army soldier who lived next door. Their friendship soon blossomed into love, and they married, beginning a lifelong partnership built on devotion, faith, family, and a shared sense of adventure.

George's military service first brought the young couple to California, where they settled in Sacramento and welcomed their first son, George James ("Jimmy"). Following George's honorable discharge from the Army,the family returned to Mount Vernon to be near his parents, where they welcomed their second son,Thomas ("Tom"). The family later moved to Peekskill, New York, where Wanda gave birth to their daughter, Wanda, and their youngest son, John.

Wanda embraced family life with joy and purpose. She was known for her warmth, generosity, boundless energy, and unwavering work ethic. An avid gardener, she took great pride in creating beauty wherever she lived. Her children remember her as one of the strongest, hardest-working, and most joyful people they have ever known. She approached every challenge with courage, gratitude, and determination.

When George's employer relocated him to Berea, Ohio, Wanda welcomed the opportunity to begin a new chapter. Together they built a beautiful home and a life filled with love, friendship, and community. For more than four decades, Berea was the place where they created treasured memories and formed lifelong friendships.

Throughout her years in Berea, Wanda touched countless lives through her kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need. Whether caring for family, tending her beloved garden, supporting friends, or welcoming newcomers, she lived each day with purpose, grace, and love.

Wanda is survived by her four beloved children, George James ("Jimmy"), Thomas ("Tom"), Wanda, and John;eight cherished grandchildren, Jennifer, Tom, Krista, Sarah, Daniel, Nick, Makayla, and Alyssa; and two treasured great-grandchildren, James and Valentina.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Baker, Kensinger Funeral Home, 206 Front Street, Berea, Ohio. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Wanda's life and share memories of the love, kindness, and joy she brought to so many.

Wanda will be remembered for her caring heart, unwavering strength, remarkable kindness, and enduring resilience. Above all, she will be remembered as a woman who gave generously of herself, loved deeply and unconditionally, and faced life's challenges with grace and courage. Her legacy of love, perseverance, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Though she will be deeply missed, the lessons she taught, the love she shared, and the example she set will remain with her family for generations to come.
