William Kent Leiby, age 67, known as Kent to his family and most friends, died suddenly on September 30, 2022. Kent was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on November 22, 1954 to John H. Leiby, Sr. and G. Jane Leiby (nee Myers). He was raised in Parma and graduated from Normandy High School. He obtained a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Russian from Ohio State University and later graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He found meaning in that career for many years. His parents and grandparents preceded him in death. He will be sadly missed by his step-mother Joyce, his loving siblings Jane and John, Jr. and his niece Jane Kim and nephew John, III as well as by many cousins, his Aunt Jayne, good friend Rita, and many other friends. He will be remembered for his Kung Pao chicken, for his caring for and helping of his many neighbors and friends, and for his love of his dogs - they rescued him until they couldn’t. Memorial contributions can be made to the Student Recovery Fund (Fund #314475) at Ohio State University Foundation, 14 E 15th Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43201. A graveside service will be held at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery, 4700 Broadview Rd at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 4 and a gathering for friends and family at Jane’s house in Columbus on November 5, gather at noon and remembrance at 1:00; food after.
