WILMA MARIE TRENDE (nee PEAIRS), 98, of Columbia Station, passed away Tuesday, January 5th. She was born July 2, 1922 in Atwater, Ohio.
Wilma grew up on a dairy farm in Auburn, Ohio. She attended nursing school at the City Hospital of Cleveland and worked as a home health care nurse until she married her husband of 58 years, Russell, in 1950. Together, they raised four daughters, Patricia A. Bender, Rebecca L. Karl (John), Cynthia G. Chmara (Richard), and Pamela E. Bassak. Wilma was the grandmother of ten and great-grandmother of twelve. She was the sister of Doris Pulsford and Aloma Dynowski .
A resident of Columbia Station for 70 years in the home that Russell built for them, Wilma was the 1994 recipient of the Columbia Citizen of the Year Award for her many years of community service. She was an active member of the Columbia United Methodist Church and the Columbia United Methodist Church Women's Society, PTA, Band Boosters, and Columbia Garden Club. She was a Girl Scout Leader and supporter of 4-H. She was an active gardener and nature lover.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin Arthur Jr, and Norma (nee Green) Peairs, her brothers, Clinton, Richard A., and Donald, and sisters, Leona and Ramona Adams.
ALL SERVICES PRIVATE. A celebration of Wilma's life will be held at a later date per her wishes. Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
